Story Boarding and Friends To Visit

Sun Jul 24, 2011, 4:03 PM
Hello again, you glorious and lovely people! :)

I've nearly finished story boarding a series of portraits, though I'm currently searching for a suitable model with the right look first. I'm thinking of taking a trip back to the modelling agency (it's been a few years!) but I'm holding off for now as I tidy up some other business I've got going on.

I recently did a shoot with executives from a company that - as usual - I can't publish anywhere, but I can only say that it was a lovely shoot with some genuinely nice people. The shots in particular were very pleasing in a corporate way, and I'd encourage people to try it (it's not a bad way to keep sharp, and a repeat customer's always worth finding).

Two friends of mine recently had their photography gear stolen the day before they were due to shoot a friend's wedding - that's got to be close to a living nightmare!

Please drop over and leave a few words of sympathy if you've been there or can imagine the pain; when it's a person's passion it has to hurt to lose it.

Hello again ! Just thought I'd let you know, I did by a kit of close up lenses on ebay (YAY !) And they arrived today ! So I tried them out on bubbles ! And geez was it hard ! I got so hot staying that long close to my lamp as well ! You didn't warn my about that one haha ! Well it was great fun and I was pleased to get at least one good photo out of it.
Suprisingly I had trouble actually getting any colour at all on the bubbles. I wasn't expecting that problem...
So thanks again for your help ! :D Do check out my photo if you have the time ;-)

The camera doesn't make the photo, the ink doesn't make the poem and colours don't make the painting... The person does.

How have you been ?

I got a drawing tablet ... i feel like its my own personal brand of crack ... do you think buying a tablet will make a better artist out of me ?

Hey! Great to see you're on. :)

I'm doing really well, I've started getting paid for the photography I do as a hobby, I've started turning a recorder on when I write music (even if it is rubbish) and the lovely weather recently has meant lots of barbeques on the beach. Lovely. :D

I feel like the enthusiasm that the tablet has given you will make you a better artist, since it's the will to do your art that means you'll put in the grinding time that improves you a little bit each picture.

I reckon that we improve a little bit, maybe once every twenty images? Maybe more? I mean those times when we finally get how to do that one thing in the image (be it putting hair behind an ear, or getting a fluid pose looking like it should). Maybe it's just grinding through those nineteen other images to get to that one that we need motivation for.

I hope it works out well - I'll be watching. :D

Ah Adam you are such an awsome guy :), thank you so much.

And yeh, i actually did notice what you are telling me now ... i do improve gradually ... and honesly, I actually like that about me ... there is always room to get better :D:D:D

Congrats on making money off the photos !! you deserve it :)

Also, since you are going to the beach alot ... it would be nice if you captured the joy of it all in a photograph while you are at it :P, i had to say that because thats what popped in my head when you said beach.

Your photography is amazing. The patience you must have gained through working with smoke must be phenomenal. =P Your photos have fantastic life. Must watch. :)
